Buki Ho (Traditional Weapons)
The main weapons practiced in Shorinjiryu Kenkyukai Karatedo are the Bo and Sai.  In Okinawa the Bo and Sai were originally used as farm tools and were developed as weapons of self defense.  Skills learned with the Bo and Sai are excellent for self defense because substitutions can be found in most modern environments.

The principal methods of weapons practice are similar to empty hand training.  These include Fukushiki kumite,(Bo-Bo kumite & Bo-Sai kumite) as well as Kata(Shishiryu Bo kata & Kudakaryu Sai kata).
